great location to explore Shropshire and Wales, the BH team deliver a great customer experience. Clearly targeting quality, the room furnishings, refreshments and food were fantastic. The BH team have got it right. We'll be back. “Steve Furnivall ” Reviewed 2 days ago NEW via mobile This was our first visit to boars head & Bishops castle. We loved everything about it. Pub food friendly staffaccommodation size, cleanliness & comfort. The village . If you've never been I definitely recommend the whole experience. No O2 connection unfortunately but it didn't spoil our break. O2 need to get there act together. Shropshire Treat” Reviewed yesterday NEW Excellent pub with good quality modern accommodation. Smart restaurant area where they serve good food coupled with a decent wine list at reasonable prices. It still maintains a traditional pub atmosphere in the bar and serves a selection well kept real ales. All the members of staff we met were polite, friendly and helpful. Would recommend the Boars Head if you are planning to visit the area. Bishops Castle is an attractive somewhat sleepy town with a few other good pubs including the Three Tuns, the oldest licensed brewery in the UK. The town sits right on the English/Welsh border in beautiful scenery on both sides of the border. Plenty of places to visit including Ludlow, Clun, Powys Castle near Welshpool and the Kerry Vale Vineyard near Bishops Castle. This is Welsh Marches territory and while many other places claim (quite rightly) to have stunning scenery there's not much to beat this area, this is up there with the best. Luckily for us it's not that far away. Nevertheless well worth visiting even if you live further afield. Some areas in the UK (the usual suspects so to speak) claim very loudly how wonderful they are. This is an area largely undiscovered by many people outside of the larger West Midland area and Mid Wales. So if you do live further afield and you are looking for somewhere less crowded that avoids shouting about itself to all and sundry, this could be the place for you. Room Tip: All rooms seem to be very similar, I would guess there is no real advantage other than some are bigg... Excellent stay" 2 days agoReviewed by Christine Tracy C Just returned from 2 nights here, excellent service and staff. Rooms were very modern and stylish. Food and service was excellent and good value for money. Would gladly recommend this to anyone staying in Bishops Castle, shame they are fully booked for the beer festival as it's in an excellent location. Will definitely return again. Many thanks to Stuart and the team for making it a great weekend for us.
