Reviewed 2 days ago via mobile Proper village pub We visited three times during our seven day holiday to Bishops Castle. Each time we received a warm welcome from staff and other customers who were locals. There was a lovely fire burning, the children were made to feel welcome and drinks were reasonably priced. We didn’t eat but the food looked very good. I would definitely recommend a visit. "Fab pub, fab room and super friendly landlords " yesterdayReviewed by Anne C We arrived around 8pm on Friday evening after a long drive from Manchester and received a warm welcome from Stuart. We asked if it was too late to order food and Stuart advised it wasn’t a problem. We were shown to our cottage style room room which was separate from the pub and had parking right outside the door. The room itself was decorated beautifully and was exceptionally clean throughout! The beds was very comfy too! We then went back over to the pub to order our meal. The pub itself looked wonderful especially with all the Christmas decorations and the log fire. We ordered the steak and the gammon which were both cooked to perfection. Stuart the landlord came over chatting - and what a lovely and funny bloke he is!he asked if we wanted to upgrade from a continental breakfast to a cooked breakfast for an extra £6.99 each. I said we would as long as he made sure my fried egg was properly dead! He assured me it would be! The breakfast was huge, well cooked and definitely worth the money! Oh and yes my egg was very dead so ten out of ten for that Stuart! On the day we were coming home it had snowed heavily throughout the night and Darren, Stuart’s partner offered us the room for the night free of charge as he was worried about us driving home. What a truly lovely guy! We had attended a wedding so didn’t get chance to see much of Bishop’s castle. We will definitely be back and will be staying at the boars head without a shadow of a doubt! Thank you for everything guys! You really are the best!

"Quaint Country Pub" 2 Oct 2017Reviewed by crippssp I visited this typical village pub for a lunchtime meal. The pub rooms are small and there was a cosy atmosphere. The lunchtime menu included several options for vegetarians so I didn't have to 'choose' pasta which I hate. The food was hot and well served by staff who were both helpful and friendly.I would definitely go again. I did not stay over so have no idea about the hotel accommodation.

Early Birthday Sunday Lunch We went back to the Boars Head after having an excellent lunch there 12 months ago. The atmosphere had not changed, warm and welcoming. The food was just as good , with plenty of choice and a fair price to pay. Would have no hesitation in going back again if we were in the area. https://www.tripadvisor.co.uk/ShowUserReviews-g736829-d3219152-r625281781-The_Boar_s_Head-Bishops_Castle_Shropshire_England.html#
