This being our first visit to the Boars Head the friendly attitude of the staff & the excellent quality of the food made our visit for Sunday lunch a good choice . We would have no hesitation in returning & would highly recommend it .

Great accommodation, great location, great value. We booked this at short notice for a Saturday Night in the 'Curly Tail' accommodation. We had a twin room with breakfast at £45, which was excellent value. We arrived at the hotel, easy parking and right on the high street of this lovely village. We were booked in, very friendly and efficient and shown to our room which was in a small block across the car park. It had a large entrance hall (shoes to be removed) with a door to a lovely large bathroom with a great shower! Going through another door into the main room which had twin beds, wardrobe, bedside tables, comfy leather chairs, large tv, dressing table, tea & coffee facilities, safe, iron, ironing board, hairdryer and it was really nicely decorated. Very impressed with the room, we wandered over to the main hotel again which is lovely inside with a roaring fire, cosy atmosphere and a couple of cask ales on. The hotel is situated right in the village on the main street which is nice, we wandered up to the top of the village and worked our way down through the different pubs then ended up with fish and chips at the end of the night. We did have a couple more beers in the hotel bar before going back to our room. Lovely, friendly barman and a chat with the locals, a great end to the night. Next morning, the cheerful barman was back on breakfast duty and served up promptly with tea and toast in the quaint little dining room. We wandered in around 9.10am after being asked the previous evening what time we would like to come for breakfast, no pressure as they served until 9.30am and it's very casual. Breakfast was cereals, yoghurt with fruit, pastries, toast, jams, tea, juices and all fresh. We left our car there the next day as it was quiet and spent the morning wandering around the village again. Not much going on as it was Sunday, but we went for a coffee and took lots of pictures of the lovely coloured buildings. Locals are friendly too. All in all, a lovely stay over, great accommodation, friendly and efficient service with a smile. The only thing that was slightly disappointing was the breakfast is continental. When you book, its says 'Breakfast Included', we assumed it was a cooked breakfast as I have never taken much notice as it usually says 'Continental' on websites. You can have a cooked breakfast for a further £6.99 each. It may have changed my decision to stay there as there was other accommodation nearby with a cooked breakfast included which would have worked out slightly cheaper. As we go away on at least 8 European holidays and 6 UK breaks each year, I like to be savvy when booking, so it's not a case of being tight. Overall, I would definitely recommend. Booked a couple of weeks in advance for Birthday Party in Bishops Castle. Staff could'nt have been more friendly and helpful. Great room, great breakfast, easy parking and lovely pub. Some friends in adjacient room had not pre-booked breakfast (which you must do in advance) and as it was a Sunday the cafe up the road was not open. Owners offered to make breakfast for the 3 of them while they waited.
